Baseball Game Preview: Decatur Eagles vs. Eagle Mountain Knights

For the second straight game, Decatur will face off against Eagle Mountain. The Eagles will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Decatur will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Decatur got the win against Eagle Mountain by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Eagles have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cooper House was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Decatur's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-13-1 when he doesn't). Ryder Hanley was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Decatur hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Decatur pushed their record up to 15-13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
