Basketball Recap: Swenson Arts & Tech Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 19-19 at halftime, Swenson Arts & Tech was not quite Science Leadership Academy's equal in the second half on Thursday. They took a hard 49-31 fall against Science Leadership Academy. The Lion were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Science Leadership Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Science Leadership Academy can attribute much of their success to Sebastian Torres, who posted 22 points. Those 22 points gave Torres a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Babilonia, who earned ten points.

Swenson Arts & Tech has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.5 points per game. As for Science Leadership Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swenson Arts & Tech will take on Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Science Leadership Academy, they will square off against Motivation at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Motivation will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Science Leadership Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
