Basketball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Coronado Islanders

Clairemont is 0-9 against Coronado since January of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Clairemont Chieftains will square off against the Coronado Islanders at 6:30 p.m. Clairemont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Coronado likes a good challenge.

Clairemont will head into Friday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Logan Memorial Education Campus on Friday. Clairemont breezed by Logan Memorial Education Campus to the tune of 56-25.

Meanwhile, Coronado came up short against Valley Christian on Saturday and fell 56-49. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Clairemont, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Clairemont came up short against Coronado in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, falling 66-62. Thankfully for Clairemont, Wayne Mckinney Iii (who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
