Baseball Game Preview: Murphy Bulldogs vs. Brevard Blue Devils

The Murphy Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Brevard Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Murphy has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Things were looking good for Murphy after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 24-4 to Swain County. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Maroon Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Brevard faced East Rutherford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Brevard came up short against East Rutherford, falling 10-3. The matchup marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Brevard's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.2 runs. As for Murphy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5.
