Volleyball Recap: Branchville Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Orangeburg-Wilkinson, Branchville was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Yellow Jackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The win didn't come easy: Andrew Jackson Academy scored at least 21 points in every set. The final score came out to 26-24, 16-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Andrew Jackson Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was McKinnley Beard, who had 15 kills, two aces, and one block. She has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 35 times she's played. Carrigan Moore was another key player, getting five aces, three digs, and one block.

Branchville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6-1 record this season. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Branchville will square off against Scott's Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Yellow Jackets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thomas Heyward Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
