Basketball Game Preview: Valor Christian Eagles vs. Rangeview Raiders

The Valor Christian Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Rangeview Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Valor Christian sitting on 13 straight wins and Rangeview on 26.

Valor Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 72-59 victory over Ralston Valley.

Cole Scherer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds. His morning made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Wynja, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Rangeview ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 75-69 win over Regis Jesuit.

Rangeview's win came from a few key players Valor Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Marceles Duncan, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Archie Weatherspoon V, who posted 19 points.

Rangeview's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-0. As for Valor Christian, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.

Valor Christian couldn't quite finish off Rangeview when the teams last played back in January of 2022 and fell 76-74. Thankfully for Valor Christian, Malik Frazier (who made all 6 shots he took for 24 points along with seven boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
