Softball Recap: Ashley Ridge Gets the Win

Ashley Ridge took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Berkeley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Swamp Fox sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Stags on Friday.

Ashley Ridge's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addy Bacon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Bacon has posted since back in February. Abagail Daniels also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Ashley Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Berkeley, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coincidentally, Ashley Ridge and Berkeley will both be playing White Knoll the next time they take the field. The Swamp Fox will host the Timberwolves at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Stags will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
