Basketball Recap: Lee Gump's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jefferson County Christian over Portersville Christian

Jefferson County Christian lost against Portersville Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jefferson County Christian Royals took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portersville Christian.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lee Gump, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. Gump is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Mark Jenkins was another key player, putting up 17 points and six rebounds.

Jefferson County Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Portersville Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson County Christian will square off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Portersville Christian has already played their next match (against Heartland Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
