Soccer Game Preview: Mineola vs. Pittsburg

The Mineola Yellowjackets will face off against the Pittsburg Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineola is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.3 goals per game this season.

Mineola will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Grand Saline on Friday. Mineola put the hurt on Grand Saline with a sharp 6-1 victory. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Indians are ranked 793rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mineola hit Grand Saline with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jonathan Ledesma (2), Michael Camargo (2), Eddie Lucas, and Adrian Rodriguez.

Pittsburg played against Liberty-Eylau last Monday and won via forfeit.

Pittsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 54 goals over those 14 contests. Mineola's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-6.
