Santiago Henriquez commands the offense for Panthers win

Recap: Palmetto Panthers vs. Dr. Krop Lightning

Even though the Dr. Krop Lightning scored an imposing 72 points on Thursday, the Palmetto Panthers still came out on top. Palmetto took down Dr. Krop 88-72. Given Palmetto's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Dr. Krop is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palmetto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Santiago Henriquez, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals. Henriquez has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Lipson, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Despite the loss, Dr. Krop still got an impressive performance from Joseph Washington, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Washington has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Johans Richards, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dr. Krop smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmetto only pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.

Palmetto is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Dr. Krop, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Palmetto will square off against Coral Glades at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Coral Glades has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Dr. Krop, they will head out on the road to take on Belen Jesuit at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
