West Point is 0-4 against Shadow Ridge since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. West Point is taking a road trip to challenge Shadow Ridge at 3:45 p.m. West Point knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Shadow Ridge likes a good challenge.
Last Thursday, West Point made easy work of Apollo and carried off a 24-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Angelique Chavez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, West Point got a massive performance out of Mariah Mendez, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Mendez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabby Rodriguez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
West Point hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Corona del Sol on Monday and fell 4-3.
McKayla Ethington was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Madilyn Gentner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Shadow Ridge now has a losing record of 6-7-1. As for West Point, their record now sits at 8-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Point has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Shadow Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
West Point suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Shadow Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can West Point avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
