The Dugger Union Bulldogs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the Eminence Eels at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dugger Union has now lost ten straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since May 8.
Dugger Union came up short against Wood Memorial on Friday, falling 16-3.
Dugger Union saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wayland Trueblood, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eminence posted their closest win since May 12, 2025 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Brown County 3-2. The Eels' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lucien Beam was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Beam, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mason Setser, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Eminence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brown County only posted a batting average of .208.
Eminence's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Dugger Union, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Dugger Union's way against Eminence when the teams last played back in May of 2016, as Dugger Union made off with a 19-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
