Recap: Nickerson Panthers vs. Macksville Mustangs
The Nickerson Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 52-20 loss at the hands of Macksville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Nickerson has scored all season.
Mayce Russell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Macksville, scoring 23 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kambry Adams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Nickerson's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Macksville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Nickerson will head out on the road to face off against Kingman on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Kingman is ranked 282nd, while Nickerson is ranked 286th). As for Macksville, they will face off against Sunrise Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
