Softball Recap: Brooks Find Success

While Brooks's win against Deshler wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Brooks Lions had just enough and edged out the Deshler Tigers 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Tigers since May 3, 2022.

Karley Moreland made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Moreland was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Faith Roberson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Brooks has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Deshler's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Brooks Lions take on Lauderdale County Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Deshler, they will venture away from home to square off against Hatton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
