Baseball Game Preview: Shikellamy Braves vs. North Schuylkill Spartans

Shikellamy hasn't had much luck against North Schuylkill recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Shikellamy will be playing at home against North Schuylkill at 11:00 a.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Shikellamy's last matchup with Mifflinburg could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Wednesday. Shikellamy came up short against Mifflinburg, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Braves couldn't push the score so high this time.

Shikellamy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chayse Snyder, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, North Schuylkill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-4 to Blue Mountain. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since May 2, 2024.

Chase Slotcavage put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Slotcavage was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Kevin Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

North Schuylkill's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Shikellamy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
