Soccer Game Preview: Colony vs. Kenai Central

The Colony Knights will head out on the road to take on the Kenai Central Kardinals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Colony will be strutting in after a win while Kenai Central will be coming in after a loss.

Colony is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Soldotna, who was ranked second at the time (Colony was ranked ninth). The Knights blew past the Stars 5-1 on Friday. Colony might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

Avrie Giegerich was the driving force of Colony's attack as she scored all five of Colony's goals, bringing her season total up to 20 goals.

Meanwhile, Kenai Central came up short against Palmer on Friday and fell 4-2.

The victory made it two in a row for Colony and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those two matchups. As for Kenai Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Everything went Colony's way against Kenai Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Colony made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
