Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Marauders vs. Arvada Bulldogs

The Mitchell Marauders will take on the Arvada Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mitchell is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 15-5 to Peyton.

Mitchell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Spofford, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Spofford also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Damontae Simpson was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arvada). They were the clear victors by a 25-5 margin over Arrupe Jesuit on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.

Isaac Martinez was a standout: he scored three runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Dillan Najera-Ladezma, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Arvada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .722. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Arvada now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
