Softball Preview: Italy Gladiators vs. Moody Bearcats

After two games on the road, Italy is heading back home. They will take on the Moody Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Italy is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Thursday, just like they did against Whitney (and have done all season long). Italy was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Whitney on Tuesday.

Ella Hudson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Hudson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a triple.

In other batting news, Olivia Ramirez was incredible, going 3-for-3 with four RBI, a stolen base, and a run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last six games she's played. Addy Slovak was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Moody had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Crawford a 1-0 shutout two weeks ago.

Italy pushed their record up to 24-7 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Moody, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
