Montclair Kimberley Academy came out on top against Payne Tech on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run third inning. The Cougars blew past the Lions 17-2. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.

Montclair Kimberley Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Payne Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Montclair Kimberley Academy and Payne Tech will both be playing Millburn the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Millers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cougars will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
