Softball Recap: Salem Rams vs. Wildwood Warriors

Salem had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 13. They lost 16-3 to the Wildwood Warriors. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Wildwood, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.

For Wildwood's part, Emma Contreras made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Contreras has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Wildwood got a massive performance out of Cydnee Kilian, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that Kilian has brought in this season. Addison Troiano was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
