Softball Game Preview: John Jay Patriots vs. Arlington Admirals

The John Jay Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Arlington Admirals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Friday, John Jay sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Minisink Valley. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Arlington was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They skirted past New Rochelle 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Admirals.

Sam Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Sam Laffin was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Adel, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got John Jay back to even at 1-1. Arlington has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record.

John Jay skirted past Arlington 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
