Basketball Game Preview: Tarbut V' Torah Lions vs. The Webb Schools Gauls

Two dominant forwards in Jacob Coblentz-Brown and Josef Sharifi are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Tarbut V' Torah Lions will venture away from home to face off against The Webb Schools Gauls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Tarbut V' Torah beats The Webb Schools with 77 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Tarbut V' Torah breezed by Bolsa Grande to the tune of 77-36 on Tuesday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Matadors are ranked 1204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tarbut V' Torah got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Coblentz-Brown out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Coblentz-Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Graydon Carpet was another key player, almost dropping a triple-double on 11 points, nine boards, and nine assists.

Tarbut V' Torah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, The Webb Schools waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up an 80-51 win. The Gauls pushed the score to 64-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Tarbut V' Torah pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for The Webb Schools, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Tarbut V' Torah took their win against The Webb Schools in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 49-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tarbut V' Torah since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
