Softball Recap: Grand Valley Takes a Loss

If Grand Valley was riding high fresh off their 13-4 takedown of Harding on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs lost 11-5 to the Conneaut Spartans on Wednesday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 10-7.

Breanna Rowland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Kaityln Baumann was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Grand Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Conneaut, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grand Valley will take on Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Conneaut, they will square off against Girard at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
