Basketball Recap: Sela Travieso Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pine Crest

It's playoff time, and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart had no trouble coming through when it counted. They secured a 71-66 W over the Pine Crest Panthers on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cyclones.

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sela Travieso out in front who went 9-for-19 on her way to 25 points and six assists. Travieso continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Gabriella Garcia-Pons was another key player, going 8-for-11 en route to 19 points and six rebounds.

Pine Crest's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Sangha, who dropped a double-double with 34 points and 11 boards. That was a full 51.5% of Pine Crest's points, marking the third time in a row Sangha has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Franky Garfi, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart's record now sits at 17-8. As for Pine Crest, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-5.

Looking ahead, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart will take on Sports Leadership & Management at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sports Leadership & Management will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart surely won't give up without a fight. Pine Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
