Basketball Recap: Ashland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hayward

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashland). They walked away with a 92-83 win over the Hayward Hurricanes on Friday. The Oredockers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Defeat or not, Hayward got some senior leadership from Ryker Chipman and Lucas Hansen. Chipman went 12-for-16 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals, while Hansen dropped a double-double with 24 points and 15 boards. Kingston Frey was another key player, putting up seven points along with ten boards and seven assists.

Ashland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Hayward, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Ashland will head out to square off against Ladysmith at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hayward has already played their next game (against Osceola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
