The Lapel Bulldogs will take on the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lapel sitting on five straight wins and Alexandria-Monroe on three.
Lapel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Madison-Grant on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Argylls. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.

Ava Zdanowski tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tatum Harper, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Paige Stires was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Lapel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Alexandria-Monroe duked it out with Elwood on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 21-1 victory. The Tigers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the third game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Brynlee Humphries made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Humphries was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kinley Webb was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Thomas, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.
Lapel pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their record is now 3-0.
Both Lapel and Alexandria-Monroe just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Alexandria-Monroe struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lapel skirted past Alexandria-Monroe 4-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
