Washington County took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Campbellsville Eagles. This was payback for the Commanders, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Washington County took Campbellsville into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, 17-15.

Rylee Hunt paced Washington County's offense, picking up ten kills. Hunt got some help from Kate Smith and her 34 assists. Hunt also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Claire Mattingly, racking up three apiece.

Washington County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Nelson County on the 20th. As for Campbellsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Bardstown on the 19th.
