Jackson Center took  a  three-set  defeat the last time they faced off against Houston, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  team sidled past the Wildcats  3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Tigers have posted  since September 24, 2024.
 Jackson Center was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-16, 19-25, 25-27, 25-19,  15-10.
 Audrey Byrd paced Jackson Center's offense, picking up 13 kills. Byrd got some help from  Laynee Shields and her 19 assists.  Haidyn Bensman controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
 Despite the loss, Houston still got an impressive performance from   Keaton Turner, who  had 15  digs and three  aces. Another player making a difference was  Olivia Maier, who  had 15  digs and two  aces.
With the  victory, Jackson Center broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. As for Houston, their loss was  their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 6-11.
 Jackson Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  2-0  defeat against West Liberty-Salem on the 27th. As for Houston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  match,  a  3-0  loss against Russia on the 30th.
