Coronado entered their tilt with Americas on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 50-48 win over the Americas Trail Blazers. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Trail Blazers are ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Americas, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will take on Eastwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Americas, they will head out to square off against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
