The Taft Eagles will head out to face off against the Whitney Young Dolphins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Taft comes in on three and Whitney Young on five.
Taft will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Lane Tech, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Champions on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 24th.

Michaela Power spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mia Perez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Whitney Young was able to grind out a solid victory over Amundsen on Saturday, taking the game 6-1.
Whitney Young also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Liani Delgado gave up a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chiqui Vazquez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Maguire Leahy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Taft's win bumped their record up to 18-10. As for Whitney Young, their victory bumped their record up to 20-10-1.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Taft hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Whitney Young struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taft skirted past Whitney Young 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
