Basketball Recap: Dawson Fromang's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Junction Central over Montrose

Grand Junction Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 52-44 to the Montrose Red Hawks. The Warriors were probably out for revenge after losing 48-43 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grand Junction Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dawson Fromang, who posted 13 points and seven boards. Isaiah Lemon also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Kaleb Ferguson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Montrose, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ferguson has scored at least a third of Montrose's points. Another player making a difference was Brody Cooling, who earned five points along with six boards and five assists.

Grand Junction Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Montrose, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Grand Junction Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-38 defeat against Durango on the 18th. Montrose has also already played their next contest (against Montezuma-Cortez), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
