Baseball Recap: Somerville Takes a Loss

If Somerville was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Chelsea on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlanders fell 6-1 to the Medford Mustangs on Tuesday. Highlanders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mustangs since on Tuesday.

Somerville has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Medford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4-1.

Somerville and Medford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Highlanders will square off against Malden at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (237 vs. 69). Meanwhile, Medford (ranked 149th) will meet Lynn Classical (ranked 30th) at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
