Recap: Greater Grace Christian Academy Eagles vs. Mount Airy Christian Academy
The Greater Grace Christian Academy Eagles were the 55-48 winner over Mount Airy Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Greater Grace Christian Academy fell 54-47 to Mount Airy Christian Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Greater Grace Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Mount Airy Christian Academy is ranked 42nd).
Mount Airy Christian Academy was led to victory by Garrett Alford and Joey Stanton. Alford dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Stanton scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Alford also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Brady Shinabery, who scored six points along with three steals.
Greater Grace Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greater Grace Christian Academy will take on Covenant Life at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Rockbridge Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockbridge Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
