Basketball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Minford Falcons

The Warren Warriors will face off against the Minford Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Minford will be up against a hot Warren team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Warren took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 65-14 win over Fort Frye. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-6.

Warren got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Barry out in front who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points. Chase Lupardus was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Warren smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Minford put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Wheelersburg for the full four quarters, racking up a 92-53 win. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Pirates are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Minford's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.2 points. As for Warren, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Everything came up roses for Warren against Minford in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, as the team secured a 76-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Warren since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
