Baseball Game Preview: Madras White Buffaloes vs. Estacada Rangers

For the second straight game, Madras will face off against Estacada. The White Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Madras fell victim to Estacada and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Rangers, falling 7-0. The shutout was out of character for the White Buffaloes seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

For Estacada's part, Connor Abbott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Abbott a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Estacada: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Paul Ables was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Davin Olson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Estacada is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Madras, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.
