Recap: Gilbert Tigers vs. Campo Verde Coyotes
The Gilbert Tigers put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Campo Verde by a score of 55-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gilbert also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Gilbert got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aspen McClees out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. The game was McClees' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Evenson, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Despite the loss, Campo Verde still got an impressive performance from Kelsey Watts, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Watts scored a full 41.9% of Campo Verde's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lizzy Clark was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Campo Verde struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gilbert racked up 19.
Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Campo Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Gilbert will head out on the road to face off against Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesquite has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 489 points over their last seven matchups. As for Campo Verde, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
