Penobscot Valley strolled into their game  on Monday with a perfect  record and they left with the same. They never let the Piscataquis Pirates get on the board and left with  an   8-0  win. The Howlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight  runs or more this season.
 Lauren Veino made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   keeping things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Ellie Austin was  excellent,  going 1-for-2 with three  runs. Another player making a difference was  Allie LeBlanc, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  RBI.
 Penobscot Valley  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an  OBP of .559 or higher in six consecutive  games.
Penobscot Valley's victory was  their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Piscataquis,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Penobscot Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair will be back at it again later today.
