Basketball Recap: Harleton Triumphs

Harleton posted their closest win since January 2nd on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Neches Tigers, sneaking past 41-39. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Tigers last Friday, they had to take a 54-36 defeat.

Landon Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Karva, who posted seven points.

Harleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Harleton's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Neches, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harleton will host McLeod at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neches, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mount Calm at 7:30 p.m.
