Softball Game Preview: Delone Catholic Squires vs. James Buchanan Rockets

The Delone Catholic Squires will face off against the James Buchanan Rockets at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Delone Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Delone Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Fairfield 17-5. The Squires haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Teagan Funkhouser was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jill Sherdel, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Delone Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, James Buchanan came up short against Greencastle-Antrim on Wednesday, falling 18-3. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

James Buchanan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emileigh Linn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple. Brooklyn Sanchez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

James Buchanan's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Delone Catholic, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
