Baseball Game Preview: Cyprus Pirates vs. Kearns Cougars

For the second straight game, Cyprus will face off against Kearns. The Pirates will face off against the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cyprus' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Kearns' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cyprus had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Kearns on Tuesday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cody Densley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Reiner Hidalgo was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Easton Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Cyprus has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kearns, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.
