Basketball Recap: Peach County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ronnie Covington and Cam Cherry

Peach County lost against Monroe back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Peach County Trojans fell 54-45 to the Monroe Golden Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 116th).

Despite the loss, Peach County had strong showings from Cam Cherry, who went 7 of 17 en route to 17 points and six boards, and Ronnie Covington, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kevan Gray, who scored seven points.

Peach County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Monroe, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Peach County will square off against Cairo at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Peach County is facing Cairo at the right time seeing as Cairo is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
