Basketball Recap: Charlotte Christian Comes Up Short

Charlotte Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Providence Day Chargers, falling 83-52. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-22.

Despite the loss, Charlotte Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Matty Carroll went 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points. That's the most points Carroll has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Schonberg, who went 5 for 8 en route to 11 points.

Charlotte Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Providence Day, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-4.

Charlotte Christian is taking a road trip to take on Covenant Day at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Covenant Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Providence Day, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Charlotte Latin at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Providence Day has won 14 straight at home dating back to last season, while Charlotte Latin won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
