Football Game Preview: Mancos Bluejays vs. Vail Christian Saints + How To Watch

The Mancos Bluejays will face off against the Vail Christian Saints at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Vail Christian will be up against a hot Mancos team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Bluejays were the clear victors by a 42-22 margin over Dove Creek on Thursday. Considering the Bluejays have won three matchups by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Michael Resner had a dynamite game, rushing for 223 yards and one TD while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Those 223 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Mancos also got a significant boost from Jonah H Ritter, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mancos was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Mancos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Resner and Joshua Peterson.

Meanwhile, Vail Christian was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Soroco 42-8. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Mancos' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Vail Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Mancos has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Vail Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Mancos against Vail Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-6 win. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
