Basketball Recap: Garfield Takes a Loss

Garfield lost against Norwayne back in November of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Garfield Rams took a hard 56-38 fall against the Norwayne Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Bobcats are ranked 224th).

Norwayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Froelich led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Maibach, who posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Garfield now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Norwayne, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garfield will take on Buchtel in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Garfield is facing Buchtel at the right time seeing as Buchtel is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Norwayne and Chippewa will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
