Softball Recap: Lutheran Northwest Takes a Loss

If Lutheran Northwest was feeling good fresh off their 18-8 takedown of Southfield Christian on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lutheran Warriors on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-5 on Thursday.

Alyssa Parets made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Julia Conners was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lutheran Northwest has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Lutheran, their record now sits at 17-7.

Looking ahead, Lutheran Northwest will challenge Plymouth Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lutheran, they will face off against Inter-City Baptist at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
