Preview: Palo Alto Vikings vs. St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs
The Palo Alto Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Palo Alto has more to be thankful for after their game against Mountain View on Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Palo Alto made off with a 34-33 victory over Mountain View. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Jason Auzenne was on fire: he picked up 166 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Auzenne's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Jeremiah Madrigal and his 87 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Palo Alto's victory.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Vincent de Paul walked away with it. They took their game on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 48-12 victory over the Pride. St. Vincent de Paul might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matchups by 23 points or more this season.
St. Vincent de Paul found their leader in underclassman Gabe Casanovas, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Another player making a difference was Mason Caturegli, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Their wins bumped Palo Alto to 8-5 and Mountain View to 6-7.
