Basketball Game Preview: Ayden - Grifton Chargers vs. North Lenoir Hawks

The Ayden - Grifton Chargers are taking a road trip to square off against the North Lenoir Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ayden - Grifton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully North Lenoir likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Ayden - Grifton ended up a good deal behind SouthWest Edgecombe and lost 72-57. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Cougars are ranked 83rd).

Loss or not, Ayden - Grifton got some senior leadership from Hatteras Jenkins and Jahmir Outlaw. Jenkins posted 21 points, while Outlaw scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nygel Morgan, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, North Lenoir didn't have quite enough to beat South Lenoir on Thursday and fell 70-68.

Ayden - Grifton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for North Lenoir, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Ayden - Grifton was able to grind out a solid victory over North Lenoir in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 55-44. Will Ayden - Grifton repeat their success, or does North Lenoir have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
