Softball Game Preview: Spencerville Bearcats vs. Jefferson Wildcats

Spencerville is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Jefferson Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Spencerville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Spencerville lost 15-5 to Elida on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Jefferson was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion Local. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Spencerville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Jefferson, they dropped their record down to 7-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Spencerville came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
