Basketball Recap: Santaluces Takes a Loss

Santaluces lost against Suncoast back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Santaluces Chiefs took a blow against the Suncoast Chargers, falling 62-34. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Chargers are ranked 103rd).

Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abiel Blanc, who posted five points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Woosbend Dwayne Medouard, who scored eight points.

Suncoast got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Walter Brinkley out in front who earned 12 points. Brinkley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Chandler Westover was another key player, putting up eight points.

Santaluces has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Suncoast, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

Santaluces has already played their next game, a 47-33 win against Spanish River on the 30th. As for Suncoast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-39 victory against Forest Hill on the 29th.
