Baseball Recap: Glades Day Comes Up Short

Glades Day managed to slip by Atlantic Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Glades Day Gators came up short against the Atlantic Christian Sharks on Wednesday, falling 13-2. Gators fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Sharks since on Wednesday.

James Alderman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Glades Day is 2-1 when Alderman posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carson Sweet, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

This is the second loss in a row for Glades Day and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Atlantic Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glades Day will take on Inlet Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glades Day has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Atlantic Christian, they will square off against Somerset Academy - Canyons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Christian knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Somerset Academy - Canyons likes a good challenge.
